Staying at a house as cool as Tamu Ibu Guest House will surely give you itches when you're not taking anything with your camera. Why? Because the guest house boasts highly instagrammable spots. The front view of the house is somewhat striking when compared to the other houses in the neighborhood. This is particularly due to the unusual design the house has, with vintage style a la European houses. Stepping through the door, you will find a living room with a retro sofa set sitting in the center of the room, facing a TV. The most interesting part is, however, the left and right edges of the entrance, fully decorated with oldies stuffs. Vintage wall clock, classic telephone, antique cigarette packs, and even old advertisement prints are installed neatly here. All appear catchy with colorful patchwork chairs.
Not only oldies stuffs, Jogja-style murals also decorate the walls, turning them into fun a fun background for your photos. Spotlights are placed right above the murals, just like in a gallery. A mural with the lettering "Sugeng rawuh" (Javanese words meaning "welcome") is on the living room's wall, while another one of Jogjanese cuisines is on the dining room's wall, which integrates into the kitchen. Aside from the common rooms, murals also decorate the walls on the bedrooms. The difference is, while the murals in the common rooms reflect the function of the corresponding room, the murals on the bedrooms are painted according to the names of the rooms which, obviously, are very Jogja. There's mural of leather puppet, onthel bicycle, traditional herb peddler women and, the most unusual one, mural of Punokawan posing a la The Beatles crossing a street as they did in their Abbey Road album cover.
Done with modern Jogjanese stuffs, let's peek into the rear section of the house. A swimming pool, complete with a sun lounger on one of the sides, is ready to serve as a place for you to sit back and relax or hold a simple poolside party. Haven't had enough of taking pictures at Tamu Ibu Guest House? Try paying a visit to Epic Coffee or The Captain Urban Lounge, not far from the guest house. Industrial-themed interior at Epic Coffee or airplane cabin decoration at The Captain Urban Lounge is no less cool to take modern pictures at.
The guest house is also close from various modern tourism attractions in Jogja. The closest one is Taman Pelangi at Monumen Jogja Kembali (monjali), an amusement park with hundreds of lampions to spoil your eyes. Heading a bit further south, you'll reach Malioboro, the icon of Jogja's tourism. On the contrary, if you're going north, you'll arrive at the cool-aired Kaliurang. Sshhh, you might not know it yet, but Kaliurang keeps secret a very great museum of Javanese culture, Museum Ullen Sentalu. So great is the museum that it is awarded the title of the best museum by TripAdvisor.
