Lempuyangan Railway Station Transfer

Lempuyangan is Yogyakarta's oldest train station. Throughout its long history, the station has been playing a pivotal role in the development of train network in Yogyakarta.

1. Becak

Becak is a tricycle propelled forward by the driver using the pedal. Becak also has a motorized version called bentor (becak motor/motorized becak). Becak is highly suitable for one passenger or two wanting to travel to places not too far from Lempuyangan Train Station such as Malioboro, the Royal Palace of Yogyakarta, North City Square, Alun-alun Kidul, Taman Pintar Science Park, or Taman Sari. The drivers in Lempuyangan Train Station are easy to recognize. They wear blue vests with the name of their driver association embedded on their back. Should you want to ride one, it is worth noting that fare is decided through negotiation. So make sure that you do your best at bargaining.

2. CONVENTIONAL OJEK

This mode of transportation is also available for tourists. The ojek (motorcycle taxi) drivers in Lempuyangan Train Station usually wear blue vest. Just like becak, the fare for conventional ojek is also decided through negotiation.

3. ONLINE OJEK (Ojol)

Ojol is an informal mode of transportation, but is sought by many. At Lempuyangan Train Station, ojol drivers cannot pick passengers up within the station area. Passengers will have to walk a while until they are outside of the red zone, where the drivers are waiting. The red zone means an area where online ojek drivers are forbidden from picking up passengers.

4. BLACK-PLATED TAXIS

Black-plated taxis are not official taxis; they are private cars used to offer transportation services. At Lempuyangan Train Station, these taxis are organized by Pataska (Train Station Taxi Association) Transport. There are no payment counter available for the black-plated taxis within the station. Passengers can simply come to the drivers or their cars outside of the station. They do not install a taximeter, either. The drivers usually have a list of fares based on the desired destination. The cars used by this kind of taxi are usually Avanza, Grand Max, and APV.

5. INDRA KELANA TAXI

Lempuyangan Train Station is supported by an official taxi (yellow-plated) service provider named INDRA KELANA TAXI. The fare is based on the travel distance and time calculated using a taximeter. Indra Kelana is suitable for group of travelers consisting of up to four persons. The cars used by the drivers are white Sedans or Avanzas.

6. ONLINE TAXI

Online taxi is an internet-based transportation service. In Indonesia, and Yogyakarta in particular, there are two online taxi service providers: Go-Car and GrabCar. The maximum number of passenger for Go-Car is 4, while the maximum number of passenger for GrabCar is 6. Just like online ojeks, online taxis cannot pick their passengers up within the area of Lempuyangan Train Station. However, they can still drive passengers into the station area.

7. MOTORCYCLE RENT SERVICE

Motorcycle rentals can easily be found outside Lempuyangan Train Station. Banners and signboards detailing the rental services' name and their contact are neatly displayed across the station to held guiding potential customers. You simply need to choose from one of them. Most of the motorcycles are of automatic transmission such as Vario, N-Max, or PCX.

Going to Malioboro
Get on route 4B bus in Hayam Wuruk Shelter and get off at Giwangan Bus Station, transfer to route 3A and get off at Jalan Malioboro Shelter.
