The feeling of humbleness will welcome you as you pass through Plengkung Wijilan, one of the gates to the complex of Yogyakarta Palaces surrounded by Baluwerti. You will then see a row of gudeg shops and souvenir stalls in the area now known as Sentra Gudeg Wijilan. Several vehicles are parked precisely in front of those gudeg shops. Meanwhile, a lot of tourists are wandering on the sidewalks and sometimes stopping by at some souvenir shops. Walking straight to the south, you will arrive in the area of Kampung Gamelan, the former residence of the abdi dalems (servants of Yogyakartas's royal family). Across Monumen Perjuangan "Gamel", you will find Omah Prapti, a comfortable guest house for family and children.
Omah Prapti is an old building with Javanese architecture, retrofitted with modern touch. Capable of accommodating 10 people, this guest house is well-designed to comfort the guests and make them feel at home, especially when they are visiting Jogja with their children and babies. With minimalist room design and furniture, the rooms feel large, so your children can play around freely. There are 3 bedrooms, 1 private bathroom, an extra-large bathroom, and a family room that integrates into the dining room and kitchen. In the backyard, there is a park area that can accommodate 2 city cars, and with seating area for relaxing.
It will be exciting to spend the night at the Southern City Square. Let alone the backyard of Kraton is almost distance-less from Omah Prapti that you can go there by feet. Family vacation will be even special when you enjoy roasted or toasted corn or toast and the warmth of wedang ronde (glutinous rice balls in ginger syrup). As for your children, they'd be certainly cheered up by the gistering colorful lamps of odong-odong.
