MERAPI TREKKING TOUR
Day 1: At 10.00 PM pick up service from your hotel in Jogja then dirve to Selo Village that would be taken about 2 hours on driving. Arrive at Selo Village that has elevation about 1.500 meters above sea level where as the base camp for have trekking to Merapi Volcano.
Day 2: At 00.30 AM ( mid night ) start to having trekking to the summit of Merapi Volcano that would be taken about 4 hours on foot and would be accompanied by a local guide who will show you the way up to Merapi. After having sunrise at Merapi you will trekking down to Selo Village that would be needed about 3 hours on foot. Mount Merapi or Gunung Merapi is a conical volcano located on the northern part of Yogyakarta and has elevation 2.968 meters above sea level. It is the most active volcano in Indonesia and has a very large eruption in 1006 is claimed to have covered all of Central Java with ash.
In October 2010 was the last eruption of Merapi Volcano and more than 10.000 villagers were evacuated as lava and the pyroclastic flows are known locally as "wedus gembel" (shaggy goat in Javanese ).
