BIASS Handicraft

At the start of this business, it was during her study in Yogyakarta when a Japanese student was in charge of handling a business of handicraft of a Japanese buyer. Later on, she asked some of her friends with the same vision and hobby to help her. In 1999, The BIASS Handicraft was established. From Japan, BIASS initially took orders of bags, especially those made of sea grass and leather.

It seemed that the prospect in (handicraft) business was so bright and advantageous so that BIASS encouraged itself to expand its business for not only a single buyer. Subsequently, BIASS attempted to present some products made of other materials, like bamboo, agel, hemp, wood, water hyacinth, denim, etc.

The products of BIASS mainly present bright colors, unique-eccentric shapes, and simple design making exclusive character impression with a focus on a high quality handicraft. To keep its quality, such a product has to be controlled through some stages. For its additional impression and its high selling rate, BIASS tries to combine between natural and synthetic materials. Therefore, its products will be interesting both for domestic and overseas buyers.

The mostly domestic markets are Bali and Jakarta, while the overseas ones are Japan, France, and Australia. Nowadays, the foremost products of BIASS handicraft are bag, belt, box, hat, sarong, and scarf.

Recently, BIASS has developed its business very well. It is evident that it has opened the IPAH showroom at Jalan Tirtodipuran 56 Yogyakarta.
